Sharon Perl

Sharon came to songwriting after a 30+ year career as a Computer Science researcher and software engineer. She started writing songs when she decided, somewhat on a whim, to join a group songwriting class. She was delighted to find that the intellectual side of the craft of songwriting has a lot in common with writing software, with the added benefit of getting to bring her heart to the work.

 

Sharon's first EP, How I Remember You, was released in 2023. Recording was never really a goal of her musical forays until 2022, when several things came together: a song ("Seventeen Again") that she wrote after a personal loss, an opportunity to work with songwriting coach and music producer Mary Bragg, a planned trip to New York, and a desire to have a recording of "Seventeen Again" to share with friends and family. The recording bug bit during that first recording session and the result is this collection of 6 songs that explore themes of love, loss, grief, hope, and remembrance.
